About 900 high school students attended the Open House Day at INRTU

About 900 high school students of the Irkutsk region attended the Open House Day at Irkutsk Technical University. The event was held on March 25. Future applicants met with professors, visited various workshops, and joined spectacular experiments.

The Open House Day started with a concert in the assembly hall. Rector Mikhail Korniakov welcomed the guests and said that INRTU is one of 29 universities of the Russian Federation with the status of National Research University. Such universities implement advanced scientific projects immediately after their creation. According to Mikhail Korniakov, INRTU participated in the construction of the MS-21 aircraft and won the federal program "Priority-2030".

The rector added that Irkutsk Technical University offers many state-funded places for future master's degree students. This means that the Open House Day is also useful for parents who plan to get a second higher education.

The presenters held an online quiz among the students and told them interesting facts about the university.

Natalya Vostrikova, head of the Department of the Central Admission Office, noted, "We tried to make the Open House Day program as interesting as possible. We prepared 50 workshops, meetings with school directors and employers. Experimental and scientific locations were organized in the university hall. Everyone could play digital ping-pong or make colorful foam from chemicals."

The applicants were interested in a workshop on flotation (enrichment of minerals) led by Valentina Trusova, Associate Professor at the Department of Mineral Processing and Environmental Protection named after S.B. Leonov. Flotation is based on separating valuable components from each other and from waste rock. Flotators separate minerals into hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups. They use a mixture of water and powdered ore.

According to Valentina Trusova,

"During the workshop, high school students learned about the work of ore enrichment specialists. Such specialists are needed at any plant for processing polymetallic and auriferous ores. These specialists are trained at Department of Mineral Processing and Environmental Protection named after S.B. Leonov at INRTU. Applicants must take two obligatory USE exams in mathematics and the Russian language and one optional (physics, chemistry or foreign language) to be admitted to this educational program."

The interactive "Feel like a Detective" was held at Tochka Kipeniya. The master class was held by teachers of law disciplines Irina Kuryshova, Iuliia Gerasimova and Iuliia Egorova.

The purpose of interactive was to show the participants the complexity of the work of the lawyer, especially an investigator.
